Black & White

I have had a bit of a black and white making phase going on the last couple of weeks, my very good buddie is turning 40 soon,  her invitations were quite easy to design, she loves black and white, simple geometric shapes and a splash of red ! Hope she didn't mind sharing her age with everyone. (Thats what friends are for .... right!)

My little guy is turning 4 soon, and we are having a pirate party, so after a bit of a bedroom make over, I decided to do some DIY fairy lights in a pirate theme

Take some paper cupcake cases (I did a two on each and offset them a little), some pirate stickers, cut a small x with a sharp art knife, poke your light through - DA DA! There is some fantastic cupcake cases around at the moment, especially girly ones. Let me know if you give it a go.

PS: If you have a pirate ship I can borrow let me know

PPS: Thank you wonderful Mac and your history button, I have a list of all the blogs I stalk that I accidentally deleted, just have to spend some time to load them back up.

Is that Bok Choy or a Rose

The other day I needed to wrap a birthday present, I am normally quite happy with brown recycled paper with some great ribbons or string, and of course a clay tag.  But remembering something I had seen someone do recently with the end of a celery bunch, I was inspired to visit the vege crisper!

I opened the fridge door for my wrapping design.

Come on out Bok Choy !

Christmas Wreath-Give it a go !

Last year I had Major CRAFT ENVY, when a friend of mine received a hand made wreath made from scraps of fabric! I threatened to do a drive by while she slept and swipe it off the front door.

So before stealing it from her this year, I thought I would google how to make one and give it a go, a metal coathanger and some fabric ripped into strips and tied on, thats what they all seemed to say, no way I thought would it come out looking anything half decent with those vague instructions....

So I started, at about this point I am having a bit of a giggle at my creative ability ... then realised that I had just ripped a favourite piece of fabric I have had stashed for a year that would have made a fantastic maxi dress. (oh thats right I cant sew to save my life).  I did remember in one of the information sheets it said keep going it will come together .... so I did ....

AND HEY PRESTO, im pretty happy with my scrappy christmas wreath ! it took about an hour (max)

Although Sam ensures me that it is actually for him to put his head through and be a LION !, I am going to find some more cool fabric and try and make mini ones, think they might make a great gift for his kindy teachers.  Give it a go !

I have also joined in to Knicky Knacks Handmade Christmas Challenge.  Have a squizz its a great blog !
